Merle refers to this tune as "White Heat" and has recorded it under that name. I'm not sure who the author is. It really doesn't have much of a melody. It's mostly thumblick guitar cliches put together. I believe that this is a wonderful teaching piece, and easy to learn. The fingerstyle cliches are a must learn for anyone wishing to play in the style of Merle Travis and Chet Atkins. In measure 43, Chet's playing is drowned out by the mandolinist (Jethro Burns). The notes I show seem as right as any. The recorded version I used (Bear Family) has Chet playing the transcribed measures, then breaks by accordian, Chet sounding like he was playing a background for someone to add a part later, fiddle, and a guitar player playing in the style of Django Reinhardt with a straight pick, then everyone playing together. For the ending as the group goes from E7 to A, Chet plays the ending bass run (which is extremely Merle Travis-esque to my ears!) I really couldn't hear Chet's part in the ending due to everyone playing at once, so I just repeated the opening measures up to the ending.
