In my search of the archives online, I just found an arrangement by Marcel Dadi that is not a transcription of any version that I have. Not to discredit Marcel, because it is a fine arrangement, but I believe it is his own version as opposed to a transcription of Chet's. I have fooled with this piece all of my life, but only within the last year have I gotten serious about putting it in TablEdit format. Chet recorded this tune several times in his career and this version was taken from the LP "The Best of Chet Atkins." Chet's part was transcribed as faithfully as I could to what he played. The rhythm guitar part was arranged in the style of the rhythm guitarist on the recording, but was not transcribed as such. As most folks aren't too interested in the rhythm chord diagrams, I put the names of the chords on the rhythm section. If one is interested the diagrams for these chords are in the chord library for this tune and may be accessed by clicking on the chord symbol in the TOOLS palette found in the DISPLAY menu. I attempted to transcribe the bass part, but it is so faint in places that I used my imagination more times than I wanted to. So the bass part was transcribed from the 1st time through and I just repeated this for the second time, then transcribed the ending. Measure 5: This Bigsby dip can be done by sliding the E9 chord down one fret and returning. Compare Measures 7 and 9: Measure 7 is A harmony and Measure 9 is D. In no other version that Chet recorded did he play the Measure 9 this way. When I hear it, it sounds like I made a serious mistake when I transcribed it, but this is what is on the record. Compare these measures to Measures 15 and 17. Measure 17 is what my ear wants to hear played in Measure 9. Pretty interesting. Measure 13: This vibrato was very faint, maybe even done with the left hand. TablEdit vibrato is much too heavy, but I include it to show that Chet did use the vibrato here. Measure 23 and 31: In the 1955-1975 Chet video, when he plays this measure he doesn't play the bass part, but the recording has it in there. Measures 48 and 49: Recognize the chord progression? It's the one used so much in Merle Travis' "Walkin' the Strings." Measures 53 through 69: I thought these would be the easier measures to transcribe, but they turned out to be the hardest due to trying to put the slides in. Also, Chet doesn't use just one technique, but uses sixth's and tenth's. TablEdit doesn't handle the slides that Chet did very well, so some of them I didn't notate. Note that I turned off the Ragged Eights by inserting (S:0) for this section. When actually playing the parts it's not necessary, but the slides sound better in TablEdit. Measure 77: For a really pretty variation, on the E7th chord, instead of playing the D in it, reach done to the 11th fret, 3rd string, and add that F# to it like Chet did in the bridge of "Trambone." Measure 86 and 87 (The Ending): There were several different ways of notating this ending, but I chose this one. The D# beats against the E for that dissonance but the sound resolves to the E.
