This was a really fun project.  It is vintage Charlie Byrd.  When he played an improvisational piece solo, he tended to play a lot of chords so that the harmony is never lost in the improvisation.  In my opinion Charlie holds my interest in this, not so much with his improvised melody, but with the rhythmic phrasing.  Lots of Byrd cliches, like the Count Basie ending.

Measure 10 and repeats of this measure:  Note that the melody on beats 3 and 4 can be played on the 1st string.  But by using the open 6th string to transition to the 7th position, Measure 11 becomes so much easier to play.

Measure 12:  On every repeat of this measure in the piece Charlie plays an E (Open 1st string) on the up beat of 1.  This doesn't sound bad, so I left it as it is the recording.  When I play this tune, I add it in here.

Measure 35:  On the recording Charlie muffs the C note on the 8th fret.  Since you can hear him trying to play this, I put it in.

Measure 37:  The open G I believe is an unintentional note.  It doesn't sound that bad and it is on the recording so I left it in the score.

Measure 63:   Charlie muffs the chord on the third beat.  These is my best guess at what he is trying to do.

Measure 64:  If you anticipate learning a lot of Charlie's work, memorize and make this measure your own, because it is one of Charlie's signature C riffs and can be found in practically everything he plays in the key of C.

Measure 95 - 96:  Charlie obviously borrowed this ending from the piano playing of Count Basie.
