See NotesCool Edit 37.55Cool Edit 1:10.8MTN)Chet recorded "Muskrat Ramble" several times, including a duet with Merle Travis. This version was found on a video of Chet's playing from 1955 to 1975. I remember seeing this on television when it aired in the '70's and it instantly was my favorite of all his versions (and anyone else's for that matter!!) Chet plays a Martin D-41(?) flattop guitar. If one looks really close at the video, one can see that someone taped up the Martin logo. At the time Chet was getting guitars from Gretch, so I have often wondered if he had a contractual problem with this guitar. Later in the same show, Chet played an entirely different version of the Wildwood Flower, that was stunning. Maybe in a new video, that will be included.

The first two measures were drowned out by applause. From watching Chet's hands and comparing it to later measures, I reconstructed these measures to the best of my abilities. Other applauses during the performance caused me problems.

At measure 49, I believe Chet flubbed a note. I believe that he was going to play a C# (1st string, 9th fret), as he did later in a repeat. It doesn't sound bad, though.

Chet plays this "F7" chord using his thumb to note the sixth string.

The MTN over the last beat of measure 92 is what I have been calling a "Merle's Transition Note" in my transcriptions of Merle Travis' recordings. Chet plays the last beat as an open D string to give him time to move to the seventh position to go to the F#7 chord there. Actually it is a legal note being part the G something chord that is measure 92. c0w %).38%).38Chet Atkinstar001101010000=007:>899<>7F000P041S0//0000000000001EE1/1101010::::JJ100001000000000000008V0000000Page &p / &n&c&2&t &c&6&s &r&3&m &r&3&t - &3&s
