The album is a classic and deserves to be made into a CD.

An arranging technique Charlie Byrd used throughout his career was to take a piano score and play it as closely as possible on the guitar. Sunrise, Sunset was created that way.

This piece should appeal to anyone that has problems playing in strict tempo, like 95% of all classical guitarists. Charlie, who was noted as having excellent timing, plays this piece very Rubato with an accordian type of rhythm.

Measure 9 and subsequent measures: The brush shown is actually an arpeggiation but notating it as such interferes with with the next note. Using the brush effect gives a sound closer to the recording.

Measure 46: To me this is the most fascinating measure in the entire piece. Charlie lets those harmonics continue to ring and plays the staccato chord. Simple sound, but a genius of a way to achieve it.

Have fun with this piece. I've played it for well over thirty years and whenever I've played it for folks, I've gotten lots of compliments from it. Charlie did a great job.cw %).38Charlie ByrdrdGc %).38Acoustic GuitarG
